Greater Houston Orthodontics
Orthodontist
Couldn’t be happier with my smile after jaw surgery. Wasn’t looking forward to jaw surgery AND Invisalign but Dr Davoody made it so easy… now my kids are even starting with braces next week!
Dr. Amir Davoody is a board-certified orthodontist and one of three specialists at Greater Houston Orthodontics, treating patients at the West University and Memorial locations. His academic path was rigorous and research-oriented: he earned his DDS at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, then completed both his orthodontic certificate and a Master of Dental Science at the University of Connecticut, where he later joined the faculty in the Department of Craniofacial Sciences. That research grounding has stayed central to his career, from ongoing academic ties to active participation in national and international clinical meetings.
His credentials distinguish him within the specialty. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a voluntary certification held by only about half of practicing orthodontists nationally, requiring years of written and clinical examination. More rarely, he is a full member of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists, an invitation-only body tracing back to 1922 and named for the founder of modern orthodontics. Membership demands original, publication-quality research and peer-reviewed case reports; Dr. Davoody achieved it in just two years, based on award-winning research on tooth-movement control and his teaching record at UConn. With roughly 660 members worldwide and only about five percent of North American orthodontists holding the distinction, he is one of a small handful of Angle Society members practicing in Houston.
